Some of the various Mission Projects of our church include:
Kathy Schultz, coach of a softball team for Competive Edge Int'l which travels and spreads the gospel to
many countries. We support her work both monetarily and with our continued prayers. Kathy is a member of our congregation.
We as a church support the local food pantry with money, work, and food donations. We have designated the
3rd Sunday of each month for this project.
This past year our church along with Neola, Red Oak, Missouri Valley, and Walnut are working on Cabin 5 at Camp
Calvin Crest.
Each year the AHST High School has a prom and after prom party. We are dedicated to our youth in the
community and feel this is a worthwhile way to keep our young people safe following the prom.
The Fire Departments of Avoca and Hancock are important to our community and the families here, we support them
in whatever way we can.
At Vacation Bible School each year there is a mission project.
Each fall, along with the Trinity Lutheran Church and St. Mary's Catholic Church, we participate in the CROP
Walk. Of the money received, half goes to our local food pantry and half to Church World Service.
Each December the churches and Federated Women in Avoca pack Good Guy boxes. These boxes are filled with food
and are delivered to those in need the weekend before Christmas. This year the boxes will be packed and delivered
December 15th.
We do other various Mission Projects as the need arises.
